Sustainability at Fairmont Vancouver Airport
As a Planet21 hotel, Fairmont Vancouver Airport is committed to making conscious purchasing decisions, supporting local, reducing waste, and choosing sustainable options wherever possible. Partnering with community-based organizations, the hotel repurposes unwanted but usable items for those in need, reducing waste in our landfills. Furthering these efforts, we seek to lessen individual environmental impacts throughout the guest journey by optimizing water and energy savings, eliminating single-use plastics, and replacing guest amenities with environmentally friendly versions. Ever-evolving to improve our conservation efforts, we believe sustainability begins with responsible consumption, which is why Fairmont Vancouver Airport sources organic, seasonal, and sustainable food options from local producers.
Eliminating single-use plastics, the hotel reduces waste by using large format bath amenity dispensers, FSC Certified wood key cards, and Flow Alkaline Spring Water instead of plastic water bottles.
Partnering with local community-focused organizations like Soap for Hope and Habitat for Humanity, we repurpose open and unfinished amenities for those in need.
Upgrading mechanical systems for better control of energy and water use in guest rooms, we endeavour to limit the individual environmental footprint of each guest throughout their stay.
Highlighting local and sustainable ingredients, we source Ocean Wise recommended seafood, organic, seasonal vegetables from Local Harvest Farm, and honey and bee pollen from Honeybee Centre.
